Lt. Comdr. Paul Dodson, USN, will long remember the last Friday in July, He was promoted to lieutenant commander and on the same day was relieved of command of the destroyer escort, USS McClellend, and recevied orders •, transferring him to Savannah. He also found out on that same Friday that his Charleston home had been struck by lightning during his absence at sea.

Commander Dodson is the son of Fred William Dodson of Flint Hill. *

Lieutenant Commander Dodson will relieve Commander David N. Inbusch, USN, who has been assigned as a United Nations observer in India.

Commander and Mrs. Dodson will live in'Savannah? His assignment to Savannah marks one of the few times in his 18 years of naval service that he has had shore duty. From 1339 to 1946 he spent' only six months in the States, the rest of it at sea and in the Far Pacific.
