' 'Nelson P. Richards, director jjfa the, Division of War Veterans Claims, and department service officer of the American Legion, announced that' Veterans admin* istration regulations relating to the presumption of service-connection for active pulmonary tuberculosis have been changed to provide for those persons who manifested evidence of active tuberculosis within three years following discharge from active service. The * showing of active tuberculosis to meet the requirements of the new regulations must necessarily be evidenced by a report of an examination made by a physician.
World War II .veterans who show evidence of the existence of active tuberculosis within three years following separation will, in the absence of evidence to the. contrary, be held to have incurred their condition either in service or had it aggravated thereby.
Veterans who participated in the Spanish-American War, the - Philippine - insurrection and the Boxer Rebellion as well as men who served during World War II are included under the new law.
World War veterans are not affected by the new regulations because provision was made for them under the World War Veterans Act of 1924, Richards pointed out.
Richards said those veterans who have been denied serviceconnection under previous laws would be reconsidered automatically*, ,§nd that it would not -ba,c n,ecessary>for them to write the Veterans Administration about the matter.
