' Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company came into be-;» ing in 18*78, when the charter was issued in the names of Gideon H. " Brown, William F. Anderson, John S. Browning, Cornelius Smith, Lewis Botts, Robert E. Miller, and Middleton Miller. G. H. Brown was named first president and William F. Anderson, secretary.
The early records of . the Fire Insurance Company are lost. Andrew Botts was at one time, secretary of the company, and it is supposed that the records were destroyed in the Woodville tornado, May 2, 1929. The records eiqst from 1924 untii the present date, but those prior to 1924 were supposedly stored at Woodville.
