“SADIE HAWKINS’' PARTY

“Sadie Hawkins” was chasing ‘Lit’ Abner and Daisy Mae was chasing Sadie at the home of Mrs. Charles Wood Monday evening, when she entertained a group of her friends at a Hallowe’en bridge party. Everyone tried to get a bite of the apple and to make love to the bathing beauty of the 1800’s. The most stylish person present was the gay Pumpkin-man dressed in full dress, but everyone ran and ducked when the scarecrow approached. Prizes for best costume, was awarded Mrs. Paul Miller who went as “Sadie Hawkins. Mrs. W. R. Bradford," Jr.r was the pumpkin-man. Among the guests attending were Mrs. R. L. Massie Mrs. Fisher Burford, Mrs. M. R. Bradford, Jr., Miss Minnie Williams, Mrs. David Corbin, Mrs. John S. Browning, Mrs. Claude Cook, Mrs. W. > A. Moore, Mrs. Brue Wood, Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr., Mrs. Walter Krause, Mrs. William Gilbert, Jr., Mrs. Emory Russell, Mrs. John McGehee, and Mrs. J. E. Keyser. Bridge prizes went to Mrs. Fisher Burford, Mrs. Galley Smith, and Mrs. David Corbin.

Sue Slaughter Group

Meeting Held Oct. 26

The program of the Sue Slaughter Group meeting, held October 26, at the Baptist church in Flint ' Hill, was as follows: Theme, “This is the Lord's Day.” The program opened at 10:30 with the hymn “Our Times Are in Thy Hands.’’ Rev. S. Felton Carter led the opening prayer.

Devotional was led by Mrs. C. B. Wood, “This is the Day the Lord Hath Made”—“Let Us Rejoice” through “Studying More”— Mrs. Lawton Blankenbaker; “Giving More”—Mrs: A. W. Yowell; “Reading More”—Julia Haygood Circle; “Doing More”—Mrs. J. W. McClaskey; “Fasting More”—Mrs. M. E. Sliger.

A business meeting was conducted at 11:50, and at 12:15 Miss Rees Watkins delivered the missionary message “Let Us Rejoice." Following this lunch was served. » v 1 Mrs. J. R. Tinsley gave a. talk on “Interracial Work” and Mrs. S. E. Hening gave a talk on “And Be Glad.”
