Mr. Harrison has voted for every motion to reduce non-essential Federal expenditures. He supported the -f5 50,000,000 acrossthe-board reduction in the General Appropriation Bill, and voted for a new limitation on personnel of regular government agencies.
Congressman Harrison’s most important assignment in this Congress has been on the House Committee on Un-American Activities. He is the third-ranking member, and often has been designated to preside at subcommittee hearings, where vital information on the operation Of Communist espionage and sabotage rings has been uncovered. He took part in drafting the Internal Security Act of 1950, and served on the important Senate-House Conference Committee which adjusted differences in two versions of this significant new legal weapon against Communists and other subversives within the United States.
