RESOLUTION

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, JULY 2, 1951

Upon, motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted it is hereby resolved that pursuant to section 15-8 of the Virginia Code of 1950 notice is hereby given of -the intention of the Board of Supervisors of Rappahan nock County to propose the following bylaws for passage at the regular meeting of this Board on August 1, 1951:

“Be it resolved that the ordinances and by-law* heretofore passed by this Board imposing a tax on carnivals which ordinances and by-laws are recorded in Minute Book 4 at pages 361 and 363 and in Minute Book 5 at page 166 of said Book are hereby rescirfiled and repealed.

Be it further resolved by the. Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County, now in session that the following by-law be adopted for Rappahannock County Virginia, pursuant to Section 68283 of the Code of Virginia of 1969; Every person, firm, company or corporation, who or which exhibits in said County performances in a side show, dog and pony (or either) show, trained animal ehow, carnival, circus, and menagefre or any other show, exhibition or performances similar thereto shall procure a license therefor. , .

For the purpose of this by-law a'carnival shall mean an aggregation of shows, amusements, concessions, eating places and riding devices, or any of them operated together on one lot or street, or on contiguous lot* or streets, moving from place to place, whether the same are owned and actually operated by separate persons, firms or corporations, er not.

Unless exempt from license tax by the statute law of the State of Virginia, there shall be paid for each day’s performance or exhibition by a carnival, show, circus or menagerie, as defined in section 58-283 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, a license tax, as follows:

On such shews traveling overland by automobile or other conveyance, the tax for each d^y’d performance or exhibition shall be based upon the automobile or conveyance capacity as follows:

On such shows requiring-—one and two loads—fifty dollars per day,
