This is significant because a bushel of corn fed to a horse is taken entirely out of food consumption channels. A bushel of corn fed to a beef steer will be converted inte beef, a bushel of corn fed to a dairy cow will be converted into milk, butter and other dairy products, while a J>ushel of com fed to hogs will be converted into pork.

During World War II many of the men in service were given mechanical training and people have become food conscious. It takes four productive acres to maintain a horse per year while there are only two productive acres for each, person in the world.

We are living in a changing world as far as agriculture is concerned. Farming is changing from a small business enterprise into big business, requiring large sums of capital and an enterprise that is highly mechanical.
