free Memberships In Music 'Festival
Forty outstanding music students in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties will receive free memberships in the Blue Ridge Music Festival Association, George Davis, executive director of the festival, has announced.
Music supervisors in the school systems of^the two counties will select the students to whom the memberships will be given. The memberships will entitle them (to attend all festival concerts free of charge.
The plan for honoring the outstanding young musicians oroginated with Hubert Phipps, editor and publisher of the Fauquier Democrat, Warrenton. He was joined by Tom Frost, Warrenton automobile distributor, in providing the funds for the memberships. An anonymous donor provided the funds which will pay for memberships given to students in Rappahannock county. Twenty students in each county will be honored.
The Blue Ridgie Music Festival will take place three Sunday afternoons in August, beginning on the 12th. William Haaker, pianist and director of the Virginia Orchestra, is musical director of the festival.
The festival program includes summer classes for young musicians of the area. Only professional musicians will be used in festival Concerts, however.
