The Rgppahannock Hunt has long had the reputation of being. Is fast moving field and after talking to Jack DeBergh, the joint master with James Fletcher, the; reason is obvious. The members who hunt with Rappahannock are .first and foremost fanners; secondly they are sportsmen. When, they farm, they farm; when they -bpst fox, they really hunt fox. Cubbing starts about the first of September, along with the apple crap. Anyone who can spare alittie time from their farm work is-welcome to go out with the pack Which usually consists of about ten to twelve couplet of American foxhounds In November the .real foxhunting begins with regular ‘ meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Stonewalls, post and rails, panneled fences and some pretty hefty farm gates lead from onel,fleld to another while the red and gray fox are just as plentiful as natural jumps. The Hunt Club’s pack of hounds are direct descendants of the famous original pack of American foxhounds raised by.; Hugh Bywaters.- Earl Yancey is the capable Huntsman; he is as-' sisted by Whips W. F. Moffett, Dunny Eastham, and Miss Florence Fitzgerald.
The end of-the bunting season comes in February and last year, this was celebrated with a program of thrilling poiuUto-poinfc races held in March on the Leon Creenaway estate.
