Although v not too much is known about the germs which «eanse colds, it is known that Ibw-’ f ired body resistance makes a person more susceptible to catching colds. Some suggestions offered for preventing colds are:
1. Avoid drafts both at home and at work. At night do not allow a stiff breeze to blow over* yo'ur bed. '___
2. Avoid exposure to dampness. If you get caught in a rainstorm' change Into dry clothing as quickly as possible. Be especially careful about keeping your feet dry.
2. Keep the rooms where you jwork and sleep well ventilated, flee that they are not allowed to get too hot,
4. Eat a well balanced diet and pay more attention than usual to what you eat. Don’t over-eat, and take more liquid# than usual. An extra intake of fruit juices is a great help. y *
5. Keep the hands cleah by frequent washing and keep them fkttayfrom the mouth and nose ah all times. Don’t become germcrazy, but pay toore attention than usual to the added danger of contacting germ-disseminaed diseases.
6. ’ Keep - general resistance as high as possible by avoiding physical fatigue. The best way to do ia to get as much rest as you can.
Sometimes you may get a cold in spite of all the precautions you take. If this happens, you should get all'the additional rest possible, even if that means staying away from work for a few days. Avoid exposing other people to your cold as most colds are spread by per; son to person contact. Don’t hesita'te to call your doctor if you feel feverish, or take your temperature and find you have fever. The same is true if yon show any other symptons of n disturbing nature. Many other diseases begin with the same symptons as thosa of the common cold. „ ' 4
