early, worked hard all day, and went to bed early. They rear their children, attend church, and are respectable, law-abiding citizens. Unfortunately, he said, the newspapers are filled with stories'of a few, who may not be such good citizens, but their antics furnish copy for the newspapers. Where are about 200 people in Hollywood who are considered “good story material," the stars and* featured players, and about 500 newspaper reporters trying to get a better story. The results are known, but many of the men of the industry* writers, producers, techniciansdo not enjoy the unfavorable publicity. “Where the Hollywood divorce rate is high, and most *>f us are ashamed of it,* “Mr. Tunberg stated, “still the movie-town rate is only 30 per cent against the nation’s 40 per cent, btit no one emphasizes that fact.”
Mr. Tunberg answered questions about the-'movie industry. In reply to the question as to why we don’t get more “good” movies, Mr. Tunberg gave the very logical answer: “We are business men. We make the kind of movie you call for. We are interested in the quality of our work but we must make a profit.” He ^pntinued his explanation by saying that the type of movie that the public goes to see is the type the producer must put out. He gave an earnest plea that movie-goers would patronise the better movie and thus allow the industry to concentrate on making that quality. As an example, answering another question he said that the industry wanted every movie to be the best, but they Iwere human beings, and would sometimes miss, just as the publishers put out some 12,000 books annually and only eight or nine of them will be any real good.
