Fertilize For Winter
Grazing, Agent Advises
Fertilizing your cover crops will give a boost to winter grazing.
W. H. Lyne, county agent, advises farmers to use 400 to 600 pounds per acre of a 4-16-8, 7-7-7, or 5-10-10 fertilizer for non-legume cover crops, such as lye grass or'small grains.
He suggests using 400 to 600 pounds of either 2-12-12, 0-14-14, or 0-14-7 for legumes such as crimson clover. If the cover follows a heavily fertilized crop, however, it may not need additional fertilizer.

Announced At V.P.I.
State awards in the 4-H farm end home safety and recreation and rural arts contests were announced this week by State 4-H officials at V.P.I.
Albermarle county will receive a plague as the county having conducted the most outstanding safety program. Albemarle had 425 club members enrolled in the project. There were 45 safety public programs in 'which 4-H members appeared and 20 demonstrations were given.
