Mrs. John Peyton Snead
Mrs. Annie Keyser Snead, 74, widow of John Peyton Snead, died Monday, January 7, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Snead, Jr., following an illness of two years.
Mrs. Snead, daughter of Annie* Cassandra Miller and Noah Hampton Keyser, was born at “Gler. Eyrie,” near Washington. She attended private school and taught for many years in the county. She was a member of Reynolds Memorial Baptist church, the Sunday school, mid missionary society; and also was a member of Rappahannock Garden club.
Mrs. Snead is survived by two sons and a daughter: Dr. John Peyton Snead, Jr., of Sperryville, Rayner Vaxser Snead of Washington, Commonwealth Attorney of Rappahannock, and Miss Marjorie Snead, with the Health Department of Orange county. Also surviving are one sister and three brothers: Mrs. Frank Wood of Washington, Joseph W. Keyser of Front Royal, Jacob E. Keyser of Flint Hill, and Dr. Robert L. Keyser of Baltimore; and five grand* children: John Peyton Snead IV, a student at University of Virginia, Miss Betty Snead, a junior of Rappahannock High School, R. V. Snead, Jr., a pupil of Rappahannock primary school, and Dana and Sam Snead, both of pre-school age.
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in Reynolds Memorial Baptist church with interment in the family section of Sperryville cemetery. Rev. A. Paul Thompson officiated, and pallbearers ware nephews J. E. Kjsrsefnfcv Downing Wood, Earl Edmonds, Hampson Keyser, Robert L. Keyser Jr., and Charles Keyser and two cousins, Joe D. Keyser and W. Arthur Miller.
