Mary Lou Campbell gave a demonstration of canning quartered -apples for which she earned a white ribbon. She was chosen area (winner in canning contest and will compete with the area winners for district winner. The area winner is the girl having largest score in points in her contest.
Others attending area contest were Mrs. Barbara Gentry, 4-H leader from Beager and Evelyn Miller.
Area contests in 4-H club home economics projects were held in the high school in Culpeper oil Saturday, February d. Counties in this area included Culpeper, Albe* marie, Greene, Louisa, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Bappahan* nock. Fairfax and Prince William county winners will compete in a variety of projects including food, clothing*,laundry and home improvement. , 'r
Judges were Miss Hallie Hughes Associate State 4-H club agent, Miss Eva Minix, District Home Demstratkm Agent, and Mrs. Eliza Trainhara, District Supervisor of Home Economics Teaching in high ■school. Miss Belle Burke, District Home Demonstration Agent of Northern Virginia, is in charge of general arrangements, and Miss Elizabeth Farrar, Culpeper Home Demonstration Agent, made all local arrangements.
Participating in the contest from Rappahannock 4 were: Lelia Gentry, room improvement; Betty Rutherford, food preparation, and Mary Lou Campbell, food.preservation.
