The development of the defense ■ program according to present plan mill assure a continuation of high employment and wages through 1952. Thus, the demand for fresh vegetables is expected to be at least as strong as in 1351. If the planted acreage of processing vegetables approximates the goals, and growing conditions are average, the supplies of canned and frozen vegetables will be adequate but not enough to adversely affect the fresh market.
Demand for processed vegetables* was slightly higher in 19b 1 than it would have been otherwise,, primarily 'because of increased military requirements to initially fill pipelines of supply. This demand is epee ted to be slightly off this year, which accounts for the slight overall reduction in processed vegetable goals.
