Ben H. Weddle Jr., who graduates from V. P. I. in June in Agronomy will report for work June 15 as assistant County agent of Madison & Rappahannock Counties. Mr. Weddle replaces W. V. Saville who now is county agent of Northumberland. *“
Weddle is expected to come t9 the county immediately after examinations are completed to look for a place to live. Persons with a home, an apartment, etc to rent are reguested to contact W. H. Lyne. Mr. Weddle prefers a small home with space for garden and pasturage for a cow. * G. B. Allison, county agent of Page, yesterday scored the Rappahannock 4-H boys competing in the Farm Flock Contest. 'Winners were as follows: 1st, Kelly Updike (score 92) 2nd Tie between Jackie Sisk and Randall Updike (scores 91 each) ; 4th Glenn Updike (score 90) followed in order by Richard Griffith, Melvin Williams, Aylette Buckner and Donald Gore.
Mr. Allison advised that had Melvin William? docked and altered his lambs, he would have tied for second place. Aylette Buckner had also done a commendable job but since his were lambs were not bred last fall couldn't allow him as much credit as others. Jackie Sisk had the highest percentage lamb crop. Donald Gore lost one ewe last year leaving him with but four when the minimum requirement is five in the contest.
A perfect score is as follows: Identification-metal ear tag-5 points, use of purebred ram-10 points, parasite eradication-10 points, dock and castrate lambs-preparation of fleeces-10 points, flock shorn by owner-5 points, clean wdl-ventilated and adequate
