The second flower show sponsored by the 'Garden Club of Rappahannock County, held Friday, May 23, at Sperryville school, saw the sweepstakes prize for the show as a whole go to Mrs. S. E. Hening of Sperryville, while Mrs. R. E. Fincham, of Culpeper county, carried the sweepstakes in the horticultural section.
In a show that staged many unusual arrangements, Mrs. G. H. Davis, Jr., was general chairman, •with Mrs. Lewis Turner as staging chairman and Mrs. E. M. Jones as schedule chairman.
Tricolor was won by Mrs. G. H. Davis, Jr., for her arrangement, “Afternoon Lull,” in which she used grasses, tulip poplar bloom, and moss arranged in a weathered stump with a small elf reclining under a lichen, i Judges were Mrs. Oscar Emerich of Purcellville, Mrs. D. T. Saffar of Middleburg, Mrs. R. L. Humphries of Middleburg, and Mrs. R. A. Hall of Luray.
Awards were:
