Rural Mail Carriers Hold Meeting
The members of the CulpeperRappahannock Rural Letter Carriers’ Association and its Auxiliary entertained at a banquet, Friday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Lee Highway Hotel, after which they conducted their annual meeting, which opened with songs and prayer led by Rev. Daily. ' •Honorable James W. Fletcher, in his address of welcome, expressed the appreciation of the town, when he thanked them for selecting Sperryville as their place of meeting. Other highlights of the meeting were delegates elected to the state convention, which will be held at Old Point Comfort, * 10, 11, and 12 of July.
Officers elected for 1952-53 were President: Charlie Compton, of Amissville; Vice-President: Storty
er: Clinton R. Thornhill of Culpeper.
Among those present were Sec.Tres. Odell Howerton of Concord, who sketched the work of the association briefly, Oswald White, a member of the state executive board, Mrs. Zula Sealock of Sperryville; W. A. Miller of Washington; George W. Mitchell of Gladys; L. A. Kibler, Tellus Castello of Aldie; Lester L. Yates, Geofge W. Brown, D. J. Kilby, J. Sullivan, David D. Douglas, Earl White, C. W. O’Bannon, Mr. Frye of Purcellville, Thomas W. Willoughby and Allen Elliott.
