The wedding of Mice Alice Joys Dennis, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. William Benton Dennis, and Ralph Wayne Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Payne, of Culpeper, took place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, on the lawn of the Dennis home near Cadtleton. The Reverend S. Felton Carter , officiated. .
Just before the ceremony Mrs. Robert Anderson, of Bryn Mawr, .Penna., sister of the bride, sang “Because" and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Miss Lynn Updike, of Slate Mills, accompanied* her on the piano and played the traditional wedding march.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of sheer white, fashioned with a hoop skirt, and a fingertip veil. She carried a prayer hook-jrithja.myB^ pie-throated white orchid.
Miss Lolita Dennis, of Charlottesville, dresced in orchid net over taffeta, was her sister’s maid of honor. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and snapdragons. Little Misses Virginia Beddingfield, of Alexandria, niece of the bride, and Sandra Payne, of Woodville, niece of the groom, were flower girls. They were dressed in blue and in pink net over taffeta.
Chief Musician Fred S. Dennis, of the Naval Academy Band, Annapolis, uncle of the bride, was best man.
