His attitudes on occasions have smacked of benevolent patronage, and that galls the average working man who is sweating away daily to buy food and still have enough to pay his taxes.
It is up to every citizen to get himself to the polls on July lb. In these troubled times, we Virginians can know that we have Senator Byrd to stand fearlessly for every man’s right to work and make a living in a free nation. We need not go so far nor so extravagantly in our praise of Sena-^ tor Byrd as did Mr. Miller in his praise of Mr. Truman. Senator Byrd may make a mistake, and he may not be 100 per cent perfect—but his record shows that he’ll he right so much of the time that we’ll he safer and the nation will have a better chance to stay free.
