There are many thoughtless people who think that the products of the land are _ inexhaustible. They believe this because stores have an abundance of food on the shelves ; they turn the tap and water gushes forth. All the good things of life are available in abundance if you have the price to pay for them. Perhaps the inhabitants of ancient empires that rimmed the Mediterranean, and those great cities are now buried under debris of formerly productive land, also thought the soil was inexhausitble.
