According to a bulletin issued in Fauquier county, the Virginia Symphony's summer Workshop will be established at Stuyvesant School in Warrenton. This announcement came from William Haaker, who said he will set up his headquarters at Warrenton.
The Blue Ridge Music Festival 'concerts again will be held at Avon Mills, Washington. Four concerts are planned during August, with a possibility of a fifth concert scheduled at Middleburg Community Center.
From 30 to 60 serious music students are expected in Warrenton through August for the summer workshop, states Mr. Haaker, who explained the move from Rappahannock “because of more adequate facilities made available by Stuyvesant School.”
The purpose of the workshop is to train serious musicians for possible future place in the Virginia Symphony. The general curriculum will include music theory and private instruction in piano, vocal and instrumental parts.
While individual and classroom ■work will be scheduled at Stuyvesant, some group instruction will be at Warrenton high school. Mr. Haaker announces the offering of a master class in piano twice a week, which will be open to auditors as well as students. A Baldwin concert-grand piano will be moved into the high school auditorium for the work.
Mr. Haaker also said there will be twice-a-week classes in com-. munity'chorus work offered for •local people, including choirs, at nominal tuition. Those interested should contact Mrs. John Moc—Donnell or Mrs. L. L. Hutchison, members of the Warrenton Virginia Symphony guild.
This announcement of the proposed concerts at Avon Mills will be notice for Rappahannock people to begin getting their tickets. Ticket sales had been low because no definite information could be obtained as to whether or not the concerts would be held at the old mill.
