1 The O. R. Johnson Chapter of The
New Farmers of Ametfpa was highly
represented at the 26 /*mual State Convention which was held at the Virginia State College from’ June 9 tp June 12 inclusive.
At the present date we have 27 active members in the O. R. Johnson Chapter. Thirteen members attended the State Convention Which number was a tie with two other chapters for having the largest delegation of the 55 chapters in the State of Virginia.
Charles Wesley Lewis, who is a
Carver Regional High School, served as secretary on the Federations Committee. He also was one of the candidates running for the position of N. F. A. State Treasurer. After an embattled two-day campaign the voting proved the campaign to have been a success, for Charles was elected State Treasurer for the coming year. He succeeds John Francis who is also a member of the O. R. Johnson Chapter and who has done a creditable job in holding that position.
Daniel Minor represented the O. R. Johnson on the nominating committee, and Solomon Williams served on the program of work committee. Eugene Ferguson, Adelbert Triplett and Robert Johnson constituted the O. R. Johnson judging team with John Gales alternate. In compteting in, rough competition against some thirty odd teams, the O. R. Johnson judging team won fifth place. Adelbert Triplett won a silver metal for having had the second highest individual score among ninety some boys. We are aware of the fact that no man was ever endowed with a judgment so correct and judicious, but that circumstances, time and experience would teach him something new. Although some of the numbers were not obligated to specific convention assignment, they received rich and valuable experience in attending. We are of the expectation that much wilL grow , .out - of the accpurecL experiences of the members that attended the convention in making their contributions to the local chapter.
