Mr. Moffett will have to resign from his present position as parole officer and complete unfinished business of that office before qualifying as Commonwealth Attorney. He expects to be sworn in about February 1. The ceremony will take place in the Cleric’s Office, Washington.
W. F. Moffett, Jr., will be the sixth member of bis immediate family to hold the office. His father, XW. Frank Moffett, was Commonwealth Attorney for 25 years before his death September 16, 1941. The great-grandfather of the newly-named county official was the first Commonwealth Attorney of the county when Rappahannock was cut off from Culpeper in 1883, Horatio Gates MoffettL
Mr. Moffett’s present position as parole officer is an appointive one. The new parole officer will be. named by the three judges of the districts composing the eight counties of the 11th Parole District. Three candidates are named by the State Welfare Department and the judges select one from this list of three eligible candidates.
