“Get in out of the rain. Baby," was thrown at me after last week’s paper. An editorial wanted to know why a school cost $10,000 per room, and commented that the price was too high. “You're sure a babe-in-the-woods! Wake up and find out a few of the facts of life! That new school down at Warrenton cost $32,000 per roost! Where havfc you been that you didn't know what it cost to build a school?"
All right, all right; I give up. I just had some silly old-fashioned notion that when people didn't have a lot of money that they built a house that was serviceable and left the frills to their rich neighbors. There are not a lot of millionaires in Rapahannock to pour out taxes sufficient to build those fancy schools; it was hoped that some school plans could be found that would buikl a plain, serviceable school so the children would have better class rooms.
I didn't mean to display my ignorance. 1 thought $10,000 per room was too high, and 1 poked a little innocent fun; now that the actual cost is $32,000 per room—I give up! lH refrain from future comment; I'm in figures beyond my comprehension, and 1 know it
