J. Rodes Brown Sr., was elected committeeman for a two year term representing District V at the statewide Feeder Calf Sale meeting held in Roanoke last Monday. This committee was first established in 1952 for the purpose of unifying policy and requirements of the twenty-odd feeder calf sales held annually in Virginia. Mr. Brown served on the committee through out 1952 and was highly complimented for his advisory contributions to this organization in formulating policy, particularly those concerning public relations.
District V. is composed of Albemarle, Culpeper, Orange and Rappahannock Sales. Other districts and representatives on the committee are: District I which is composed of the two Ewing Sales and that held at Abingdon . . . Turner Gilmer; Disrict II Roanoke, Galax, Wytheville and 2 Christianburg sales—Mr. Copenhaven; District III: Harrisonburg, Staunton, Montery and Buena Vista—(Mr. Hottinger; District IV: Winchester, Page-Waren sales—Mr. Hargrave Cunningham; District VI{< Lynchburg, Danville and Bedford— Mr. John Cam; District VII— Fredericksburg, Richmond and Petersburg—Mr. Robert Baylor. This reorganization of districts was based on 1952 sale consignments.
The Rappahannock Angus producers are planning their annual consigners dinner meeting to be held during the later half of February at which activities of the state-wide meeting will be discussed in detail and recommendations for 1953 sales given.
BRIDGE PARTY Mrs. Charles T. Bruce entertained the Washington Bridge club on Thursday evening with additional guests at her home, “Stonehaven.” Those playing were Mrs. W. F. Moffett’, Mrs. Elizabeth DeBergh, Mrs. J. E. Keyser, Mrs. Wade H. Massie Jr., Mrs. J. W. Price, Mrs. E. M. Jones, Mrs. Lewis J. Turner, Mrs. George H. Davis, Mrs. W. L. Wake and Mrs. D. D. Miller. After the game a salad course was served by the hostess and prizes were given to Mrs. L. J. Turner for high score; Mrs. Elizabeth DeBergh, bingo; Mrs. W. F. Moffett, consolation; and Mrs. D. D. Miller, traveling.
