ON FLINT HILL
FIRE HOUSE
The dreams of a Fire House for Flint Hill took more tangible shape last week when excavation began on the site behind the home of Mrs. R. L* Massie, opening on the old Flint Hill Road.
A one-story cinderblock building with basement under part of the first floor, will be constructed on this property given the Fire Company by Mrs. Massie.
In the building, according to the latest plans, will be included a kitchen, a men and a ladies toilet, and recreation room (32x70) in addition to the firehouse proper.
Since Clarence Jones began excavation last Wednesday with a bulldozer, the work has progressed rapidly. The basement has been pushed out and the foundation is now being dug. Cinderblock are being hauled in. By the first of the Week, the laying of the block will'' most probable begin. Since its organization in February, the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company, assisted by its Ladies Auxiliary, has sponsored many projects which through community cooperation, have proved successful. In this, their most ambitious undertaking, a similar spirit of cooperation already prevails.
