The U. S. Department of Agriculture recently announced the designation of crops which will be included under “total acreage allotments” when such allotments, are established for individual farms in connection with the administration of “Cross-Compliance and “use of diverted acres” in, 1955.
Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson announced on June 22, at the time the 1955 wheat marketing quota was announced, that special provisions would be in effect in 1955 to influence the use of acres diverted from allotment crops.
The special program requirements are designed to influence the use of diverted acres, helping to prevent shifts frofn surplus crops to other crops which might themselves soon be in surplus trouble.
