Hear Welfare Budget
Welfare Superintendents Mrs. William Buntin presented the budget of her department before the Board of Supervisors in their February meeting held Wednesday morning in' the Court House. A total of $8,671.00 in local money was called for in the proposed budget, with $35,568 to be supplied by the federal government. Mrs, Buntin explained to Supervisors W. C. Campbell, E. M. Estes, A. C. Latham and J. P. Cook; how she had arrived at the sums, giving them, a detailed account of why the $215.90 increase in local funds, was essential and how the aUoted money would be spent. Decision on the acceptance of the budget was postponed to a future meeting, when there will be a fuller picture of fund requests and „ more supervisors , in attendance.
'i P. D. Coldiron, Resident Engiftneer, appeared before the board to hear many requests. He reported to Estes that the Sperryville Speed Limit situation was going to be studied. It was suggested by Mr. Coldiron and agreed to by the Supervisors present to hold the public road hearing in the April meeting of the Supervisors.
Roland Welch was awarded $240.00 and Levi Atkins, $20.00 when their sheep claims were found valid and ordered paid. - A budget committee was ip* pointed by chairman Cook: James Settle, C J. Miller, James W. Fletcher, D. D. Miller, Robert L. . Brown, William F. Moffett and W. C. Campbell. It was agreed by the Board to contact a state man to devise die budget. ,
