Dr. Thomas Allman
New Health Director
Dr. Thomas Lee Allman, newly appointed health director for Rappahannock, Prince William, Fauquier Counties,, is a retired Rear Admiral with over 24 years of medical service in the U. S. Navy.
He has continuous active.duty since 1930 and has been stationed dri many ships including the USS Isabel, USS Augusta and had duty with precommissioning and training of the crew members of die USS Midway, the first large carrier constructed.
TovDr. Allman, entering the public Health Service is like com- ' ing home. He expressed himself as “entertaining an interest in public health all of my life.” He plans > to make his headquarters in Warrenton.
Upon termination of his active service, Dr. Allman received a letter of appreciation from Secretary of the Navy C. S. Thomas stating he would be “a distinct loss to the Government of the United States.”
Secretary Thomas noted that Dr. Allman was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” for distinguished service^in the line of his profession. He 'received the award for work performed during the attack of Pearl Harbor, where he supervised two junior medical officers and 13 ,hospital corpsmen.
During his tour of duty aa Senior Medical Officer at Cherry Point, N. C., he received acknowledgement for professional' assistance in a research project “Tissue Analysis for Clinical Residues," dealing with the absorption of various insecticides such aa
