Jennie Fitzhugh, wife of Frank Fitzhugh of Sperryville, died at the home of herldaughter in New' York, Wednesday, January 26th, following several months of ill health. . "
Jennie, as she was knpwq. to all of her friends, both white and colored, despite her advanced age qf 90, along with her husband, were caretakers of the Sperryvil|e School for a number of years, and uJETuitil fast fall, they were compelled to retire and move to New York where their children lived.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Hopewell Baptist Church at Sperryville, where a large assemblage of friends, both white and Colored, gathered to pay their respects. Rev. L. M. Carroll, pastor of the church, conducted the last rites. Interment was made in the Sperryville Cemetery.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Ftizhugh
is survived by jour daughters, Mrs. Lena Anderson, Mrs. Virginia Broaddas, Mrs. Gertrude Porter and Mrs. Carrie Fitzhugh of New York; four sons, Amos, Robert, William and Raymond Fitzhugh, all of Brooklyn, New York. Active pallbearers were James E. Brock, Thomas L. Brock, Amos Fitzhugh, Raymond Fitzhugh, Howard Butler and Wilson Fitzhugh- ,
