Honored By Ladies
At Birthday Dinner
The Washington Firemen were honored at, a Birthday Dinner given Friday night, January 28th by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Washington Fire Company.
Around 25 firemen attended the informal get-together that replaced this year, the stiffly formal banquet of previous years.
A gift of $300 was presented Fire Chief L. V. Merrill by Mrs. C, T. Brucei acting as mistress of ceremonies for the occasion. The Rescue Squad received a check for $100 from^the Auxiliary. In addition the Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company presented the Fire Company $200. A Chocolate pitcher, given by Mrs. Frank Moffett, grossed the Auxiliary over $55.00. Mrs. Carson Anderson, chairman of the committee in charge of these contributions, was, alone, responsible for dose to $30 of the $55. Nick Cascio was . the lucky winner of the pitcher.
