FRANCIS L. CARTER I ; Francis Lather Carter,' wellioved citizen of Washington, died at the age of 49, Saturday, April 23 at 6:30 in the Warren Memorial ^Hospital, Front RoyaL He had been rushed to the hospital when he was stricken with a heart attack while at work at the American Viscose Corporation.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Carter of Rap. pahannock, 'Mr. Carter spent all but a brief portion of his life in the county where he came to claim a host of friends.
Mr. Carter was married to Frances -M. Burnett on November 10, 1836. They made their home here until his untimely death at the young age -of 49 years, 11 months and 26 days.
His wife, and a; daughter. Miss Yvonne H. Cuter, .survive Mr. Carter. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Coleman of . Warrenton; 3 brothers, John L. Carter of Washington, Morris CarLter, and Lepear B. Carter, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; annd many other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 27 at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist )Church, Washington, with the Reverend R. . C. Davis, officiating pastor. Assisting pastors-included the Reverend L D. Richard, William Burnett, and Elder Smith .Timbers and others.
