R. J. Krueger, Assoc. Ext. Agri. Economist, Poultry Marketing Specialist, of V. P. I., writes: "The turkey outlook is critical. I have repeatly warned Virginia producers of the situation in “Peep and Moo.” The United States Department of Agriculture has released numerous warnings also, but turkey men in the United States have not heeded these warnings.
We are the third largest turkey producing state in the nation. Consequently, Virginia production substantially infliltnces the market. I sincerely urge all of you to 1 watch the situation carefully as the season progresses, and advise growers to take a careful look at the situation before obtaining poults. Unless production prospects change, our Virginia turkey producers are likely to lose money this year.”
Consideration is being given to publication of a "Field Record Sheet” by W. J. Nuckolls, Jr, Agric. Economist V.P.I., depending upon. interest shown by farmers.
