Chief Forest Warden Raymond ' M. Johnson, Rappahannock County, announces the strengthening of ’ his fire control organization by the -k appointment of Herbert L. Hitt, Castleton, as Local Forest Warden. Mr. Hitt will assist in forest fire control activities in Rappahannock County. Chief Forest War- • den Johnson, in commenting on the appointment of Mr. Hitt, advised that contrary to popular notions, forest .wardens arc not salaried employees of the State. They are public spirited men who have agreed to mobilize .local man-power and fight forest fires in their community. They are paid by the State on an hourly basis only while* investigating and suppressing forest fires. Mr. Hitt will ' be given a commission by Governor Stanley, which will convey the „ authority to hire forest fire fighters and to help enforce the State forest fire laws in accordance with instructions from the State Forester and Chief Forest Warden./ Johnson. Forest wardens have the! authority to summon able bodied men for forest fire fighting. Any forest fire bccurringin this -vicinity should be promptly reported t®' Mr. Johnson or Mr. Hitt,
