Junior Red Cross chairmen from Northern Virginia and several Maryland counties met in Wash- , ington, D. C., April 21st for general discussion of die Junior program.
The International School Art Program to improve international understanding and good will was . explained. A number of the 1,000 paintings and drawings received from children in other lands were on exhibit.
Other activities discussed were: gift boxes, school chests, party box, Christmas stocking, toys for -i Korea, making party favors. ' Mrs. Christine T. Johnston, chairman Junior Red Cross, Rappahannock County Chapter, was unable to attend but sent a report which showed that our county juniors have not been idle. Mrs. W. F. Moffett represented the Rappahannock Chapters at the meeting. ' t ^
They made posters advertising the visit of die bloodmobile to the county last fall and .served as errand girls. They sent 90 filled stocking^to McGuire Hospital, Richmond, at,. Christmas. They sent area office a check for $31.06 to cover Junior Red Cross enrollment which included: 26 elementary rooms for 7 schools; 9 j secondary ipoups, and a contribution of $9.06 to The Children’s Fund. The Juniors are now packing 20 gift boxes to be sent to foreign classrooms. r'
