Items to include in the town budget were discussed by the Washington Ladies Town Council in their August meeting held Tuesday night in the town hall. Friday, August 26 was set as the date for the public hearing, when citizens say what they think should and should not be in the budget.
Among the items under consideration in addition to the regular expenses were: stove for the town hall, color post cards, permanent Christmas treie (this would add to the beauty of toe town all year, as well as provide a Christmas tree each year),* the painting of the street signs and the renewal of the dumping ground contract with Dewey Hudson at $15 per year for a 10 year lease, (An increase of $5 per year over the previous contract).
