Firemen’s Carnival
To Open Here Aug. 15
A twister, ferris whe*jl and kiddie rides, with a large smattering of cotton candy and games, will be featured in the Washington Fire-, men’s Carnival beginning Monday - night on the baseball diamond on Mount Salem Avenue* Wednesday night’s parade promises to draw fire companies, auxiliaries, bands, drum and bugle corps and marching units from all over the section. Numerous of these companies have already accepted the invitation. The parade will line up'in the north end of town and will proceed down Main Street to the carnival lot. The parade will start promptly at 7 o’clock. Trophies will be awarded, upon the decision of the judges, St the carnival grounds. Among tj»e prizes are those for: Best Appearing Fire Company, Best Appearing Ladies Auxiliary, Company Coming Longest Distance, Best Appearing Rescue Squad, Best Band in Line of March, Best Drum and Bugle Corp and Best Appearing Majorettes. (The majority of the above listed have a second prize trophy in addition to one for first place). /
A Savings Bond will be given away nightly to some lucky person.
