Mary E. Banks Alexander died at her hone in Rappahannock, near Boston, Sunday, August 7, iat 1 JO p.m. She had been in fail* ing health for some time.

A well known citizen of Madi* son and Rappahannock, she was loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alex* ander were conducted from the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Brightwood, with the Reverend R. L. Banks, offidating.

She is survived by 1 living parent, her . mother, Mrs. Nettie Banks of Madison; a husband, Estridge Alexander; 1 sister, Mrs. Mattie Alexander; and 1 brother, Henry Banks, all of Madison. Nine children: 5 sons, Irving, Walter and Russell Alexander of Washington, D. C., Luther and Linwood Alexander of Boston; four daughters, Mary Aylor of Sperryville, Nettie Johnson of Boston, Virginia Aylor of Falls Church, Helen Haney of Peola Mills, and grandchildren.

Mr. C. C. Andrew and Richard Lewis, Misses Mac E and Betty Ann Lewis motored to Washington, D. C., Sunday. \. Mr. and Mrs. Berkley Lewis and family, Miss Treavous Haygood and Boysie Haygood of Washington, D. C. are guests in ibc home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Lewis. * r -** - •

Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Roberta Russell were Rev. G. H. Bender and little Diane Harris John E. Harris and James Russell of Washington, D. C.

Claud Bernard and James Ronald Harris of Washington, D. G. are spending a 2 week’s vacation with their grandmother, Mrs. Roberta Russell.

Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Johnson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania are visiting Mrs. Johnson’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Hendron Gray and family of Amissville. They had as their guests Mr. Nathaniel Tibbs of Amissville and Mr. Pinn Johnson of Fairfax.
