RHEUMATIC FEVER *
clinic r There -art 5 children with rheumatic fever or congenital heart disease whose care at home is supervised by the Public Health Nurse under instructions from rheumatic fever clinics or family physicians.
Children who have ' rheumatic fever can avoid rheumatic heart disease with timely administration of sulfa drugs ami antibiotics. These,drugs are supplied by the Health Department to indigent patients. 1
POLIOMYELITIS AND
CRIPPLED CHILDREN’S
SERVICE , There are 4 cases of poliomyelitis varying from partial to complete paralysis and crippling deformities under our supervision in the county. No new cases have occured during the past 12 months however.
Indigent cases are cared for at the expense of the Crippled Children’s Bureau of the State Department of Health. 13 of the counties .crippled children mfade 43 visits to a clinic. Many of them received orthopedic appliances and corrective shoes without cost.
Prevention and care of congenital and acquired deformities is a part of our public health work.
