Better Cows, Answei To Demand, For More Milk by 1955
Not more, but better, cows may be the answer to the greater mand for milk that will face the nation 10 years hence as tion continues to increase stys County Agent W. H. Lyne.
Right now, he says the nation’s annual milk production is estimated at about 124 billion pounds, which leaves a relatively small, but troublesome, surplus. However, with the population increasing at the rate of two and one-half million and figuring a slight increase in milk consumption per capjta, the demand by 1956 will be soipewhere between 138 and 140 billion pounds of milk.
During each of the last 10 years, milk production of all cows Jras increased about 85 pounds per cow.
