Rappahannock County Health Department has paid for itself, but has not sold itself in many quarters because so very few people know anythng about it. In fact, many people do not know a Health Department is in the county. With out encumbering you with a lot of figures and statistics, I want to •give you a few words about the job my helpers and I are trying to do here.
The Health District is com-, posed of Prince William, Fau* quier. and Rappahannock Counties. The Health Director is responsble for the three counties with offees in each county. This report is limited in scope to Rappahannock County. ACUTE COMMUNICABLE
DISEASE CONTROL
Sporadic cases of epidemic diseases occured throughout the county during the year, but none appeared in epidemic proportions. This can be attributed to wide spread vaccinations, “booater . shots” and improved methods of disease control.
When word got around that we were getting polio vaccine, people were very eager to get it. Doctors, nurses and many volunteer workers assisted us generously in this, program. The schools did a good
