down Use a | valance that comps slightly below ' the window sash. Use sill-length curtains oj- draperies. Place a piece of furniture under the window. The appearance of a window too short and wide can be improved by bringing the draperies slightly over the window at each side, i and keeping them within % narrow space. Use a wide valance, carried up above the casing onto the wall. Let the draperies hang to the floor if possible; and if there is no radiator beneath the window, the curtaians also can reach the floor. A vertical striped pattern wfill carry the *eye upward, accenting the vertical dimension.
A favorite placement of windows in recent years is three windows in a series. Curtain t hem as a urfit. If tie-back'curtains are used, place them only at the end windows, or if the criss-cross curtain is used, bring it across die entire unit of three windows. Draperies and valance, if used, should also enclose the entire unit.
