Chief reason is broiler supplies about 18 per cent above the same time last year. Also, farm chickens are about out of the way as a ' factor, and commercial broiler supplies plus slackened demand, are the chief factors in the price.
Eggs set are still on the increase. Week before last they were 16 per cent above a year earlier. This means a lot of broilers coming to market around Christmas, which will be a good tiime to avoid marketing your birds.
Thanksgiving will be a bad time also. There are plenty of turkeys this year.
Adding up the factors, it looks like broiler prices will be below the average grower’s cost of production again in the late fall and winter. With this prospect, the • erowrr has two choices.
