In the field trials in 1954 the Salk Polio vaccine was 60-90% effective in preventing paralytic polio. The vaccine'being used now is thought to be even more effective. Good protective treatment is two doses of the vaccine with four (4) to six (6) weeks between doses. (The interval between the first two doses should be no longer than one year). As complete protection as possible is had when the third dose of the vaccine is given no less than seven (7) months after the second. (A third dose in less than seven (7) months gives only the same protection as the second dose).
Parents and guardians have your children given the preventive treatment for paralytic polio now!
