NO MINIMUM WAGE FOR FARM WORKERS
Neither the $1.00 an hour minimum wage nor the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (commonly known as the Wage and Hour Law) apply to employees who are working on farms.
Wm. Eaves, Regional Director of the U. S. Department of Labor’s Wage and1 Hour and Public Contracts Divisions, issued that Statement to clear up any possible misunderstanding on the matter. He said there was some evidence that both farmers and farm workers may be confused on the matter.
To such possibly pusxled employers and workers, Eaves gave a simple answer: “The Wage Hour Law does not apply to the farm workers. Farmers are not required to pay the $1.00 minimum wage
