While I do not believe the general welfare of the entire nation usually is advanced by pressure groups composed of a minority of the citizenry, the power which rests with a relatively small proportion of the farmers engaged in producing the basic price-supported crops indicates to me the necessity of some co-ordination, on farm legislation, among the Congressmen representing agricultural districts outside the regions devoted primarily to the basics.
I have some doubts, though, that this could be accomplished, on an effective basis until such time as fruit, vegetable, poultry, livestock and diversified farmers who, together, account for three-fourths of our agricultural production, perfect their own organizations on a nation-wide basis.
