She has the greatest desire to take her“box”, her invention, a pasteboard carton which serves as an easel and holds her supplies, and drive through her Madison county and paint to her heart’s content.

Paint she does for Mrs. Colvirl cannot be bothered with prelimin■ ary sketches. “I just brush the paint in”, she seys, “and never do I measure”, she added apologetically.

Eighteen months after her fracture, she entered in the AAUW, Fine Arts Exhibit in Culpeper, a painting, “The Former Morris Edgegrist Mill”, the oldest mill still standing in Montgomery country, which dates back to 1708, and was awarded a blue ribbon in \lhe Amateur class. Mr. John Chapman Lewis, judge of the exhibit and instructor at the Corcoran School of Art. in commenting on her painting stated .“Your painting has been admirably executed and is pleasing to the eye. You can walk way back under the trees in it.”
