Takes Training
Raymond M. Johnson, Chief Forest Warden for Rappahannock County, attended a training school in forest fire fighting on October 27 and 28. The training was provided by the Virginia Division of Forestry. Chief Forest Wardens and foresters from all 16 counties in the Northern Piedmont District attended and participated in the activities. The meeting was held at Conway Robinson Forest in Prince William County.
The training included one day of classroom instruction on Ac organization needed fof eontrolling a large fire, methods of attack, deployment of men vand equipment, setting up a control point to direct operations, communications and information on weather data and bow it is used to determine forest fire danger. The second day was used to demonstrate and practice field problems and operations encountered in the control of forest fires.
