Deer hunting enthusiasts are numerous the country over and quite a few deer were checked in at the checking and weighing stations ki the county.
The latest and most unusual deer hunting story of the season, or for many seasons was reported in the Richmond Road vicinity recently.
It seems a farmer was riding along in his pick-up when he spied a deer placidly loping at an easy pace down the road. Fortunately, or maybe we should jsay unfortunately, he had his gun with him.
He stopped the truck and took aim, with the barrel of the gun resting on the window ledge. He fired! The gun kicked and mashel his mouth, and bruised his hand. The deer? It maintained its steady placid pace down the road. Tnc hunter was too abashed for further pursuit.
Seems his father, a few days later, presented him with a handftd of stones and told him to try them next time.
